Teaching Abroad

“When was the last time you did something for the first time?” That quote is really from a television commerical in the Middle East for Emirates Airlines, but I liked it because I felt like I was doing something for the first time every week!
I taught overseas in international schools for 11 years from 2001 t0 2012.  My teaching assignments included fashionable Milan, Italy; exotic Aleppo, Syria; laid-back Kingston, Jamaica and historic Cairo, Egypt. How lucky I was to see Syria and Egypt before all the turmoil that followed me.
Now I’m a recovering school teacher. No, that should be “retired” school teacher who is enjoying life in sunny Florida.
In this blog are emails I sent to family back home. They are a record of one of the most exciting times in my life.

Mitchell, the info you sent is fascinating, as is this website. It is amazing that you get to travel around the world and still have time to research the family tree. I thank you for the information on my side of the family tree. Keep up the great work and enjoy yourself. Would love to see you if you ever come “home”. BTW, We recently buried my Uncle Joe (J.A. SALIBA, JR.) Youngest son of Joseph Akle Saliba, MD. There are not many left now and I’m glad you’;re giving us info to pass on to our children. Thank you.
